The Musicians led by Edirisa Musuza best known as Eddy Kenzo expressed their gratitude to the Government last evening at the Launch of “The Yoweri Album” at Speke Resort Munyonyo.

The Album features 13 songs aimed at outlining President Yoweri Museveni’s achievements, in appreciation of his “strategic” 40 year leadership of Uganda.

The regional studios to be built with support from the Government , will enable artists across the country to record music for free, support regional Saccos, and foster the growth of Uganda’s vibrant cultural sector.

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, who attended the launch of “The Yoweri Album” emphasized the significance of the creative industry as a “gold mine” with vast potential for wealth creation.

He expressed his commitment to increasing funding for key players in the sector, including singers, songwriters, drama actors, and music producers.

The government’s financial support has already facilitated the purchase of a permanent office for the Uganda National Musicians Federation and the establishment of these regional studios.

This move aims to provide artists with the necessary infrastructure and resources to produce quality music and expand their reach.During the event, President Museveni praised musicians for recognizing his leadership in transforming Uganda.

He reminded the audience that the government’s initial focus was on establishing peace, security, and a thriving economy creating an enabling environment for all sectors, including the arts.

He also advised musicians to modernize and reproduce the revolutionary NRA music, making it more accessible to contemporary audiences.

“Reproducing this revolutionary music in a modern way will help it reach more people and keep our history alive,” he stated.

Richard Todwong, Secretary General of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), supported the initiative, suggesting the organization of a national annual cultural event to showcase Uganda’s rich creative and musical talents, akin to the celebration at the album launch.

In their Speech presented by Eddie Kenzo, the Musicians said that they viewed “The Yoweri Album” as a symbol of Uganda’s journey of transformation under the National Resistance Movement’s guidance.

Eddie Kenzo described the album as a “gratitude collection” that acknowledges the hard work and sacrifices of the President, which have elevated the nation.

He also highlighted the impact of the 5 billion shillings government investment in establishing regional studios and supporting capacity-building through musicians’ Saccos.

Kenzo noted that the Government’s support to the Music industry underscores the government’s dedication to harnessing the creative sector as a key driver of socioeconomic development, unity, and national pride.

He asked President Museveni to continue empowering local artists in celebration of Uganda’s cultural diversity, and fostering a vibrant sustainable creative industry.
