MOROTO – The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) 3 Infantry Division has launched a week-long Political Education and Political Commissars Course aimed at enhancing the ideological grounding and professional discipline of its troops.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!The course was officially opened by the Division Commander, Brig Gen Michael Walaka Hyeroba, at the Division Headquarters in Moroto. It is being conducted by the Political Education and Ideology Caravan from the Joint Staff Political Commissariat.

Speaking at the launch, Brig Gen Hyeroba urged the trainees to take the training seriously and to apply the knowledge gained directly to their day-to-day military duties.
“I ask you to be positive in all that you are being tasked to do during this training. Whatever you are taught here is not for classroom purposes; it is applicable in the military line of duty,” he said.
The Commander emphasised that discipline remains non-negotiable in the military, describing a disciplined soldier as loyal, self-driven and dependable.
“I implore all of us to be disciplined soldiers, keep in line with rules and regulations as a guiding principle to enable you to act professionally,” Brig Gen Hyeroba added.
The training team is led by Col Anoatoli Macwantw Nuwagira, Director of Political Education at Land Forces. Other facilitators include Lt Col Simon Peter Kulumba, Head of Political Education at the Joint Staff Chieftaincy of Political Education and Coordinator of Presidential Skilling Hubs, and Maj Ronald Rwehuta Murwani, Head of Psychosocial Support.
The launch was attended by the Deputy Division Commander Col Winston Mugarura, Brigade Commanders, Training Officer Col. Santurino Mashereka Tumuranzye and the Division Operations officers among others.
The initiative underscores the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces UPDF’s continued commitment to fostering ideological clarity, professional discipline and mental resilience among its personnel.
