The attackers allegedly stole a number of items during the incident, which occurred at an unknown time on Saturday, including a motorcycle (UEW 890Y, Bajaj Boxer), a television set, a solar battery, cash amounting to UGX 800,000, and a smartphone.
Reliable sources allege that on Friday at approximately 9:30 PM, Bahikire Winnie, the wife of the deceased, left home to attend night prayers within Bwizi Cell, leaving her husband, Amos, at home with their 8-year-old daughter.
She returned home at 6:00 AM the following morning and asked her daughter to open the back door, only to discover that the motorcycle, television screen, and solar battery were missing.
Winnie then proceeded to the bedroom, where she discovered her husband lying dead after being murdered, and she immediately raised an alarm that quickly attracted shocked neighbours to the scene.
Rwizi Regional Police spokesperson SP Samson Kasasira confirmed the incident and noted that the matter was reported at 7:00 AM at Buremba Police Station, and officers arrived at the scene.
He noted that police discovered no signs of forced entry into the house, which suggests that the deceased may not have locked the doors before going to bed, as he was expecting his wife to return from night prayers.
“Our officers got the report at Buremba Police Station and went to the scene, where they found no signs that anyone broke into the house. This shows the deceased might not have locked the doors before going to bed, because he was expecting his wife to come back soon,” Kasasira noted.
Police have since confirmed that no arrests have been made so far, while the body of the deceased was conveyed to Ruhooko Hospital for a postmortem examination as inquiries continue.
