KABALE. In a major breakthrough against rising crime, the territorial police in Kabale district have confirmed the arrest and detention of 21 suspects following a series of intelligence-led operations targeting notorious criminal elements within Kabale Municipality.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!ASP Maate Elly, the Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson has explained that the operations, which began last Friday and continued through last night, were aimed at individuals involved in a range of offenses including robberies, burglaries, thefts, possession and consumption of opium, and the snatching of bags from travelers.
Among the detainees are several prime suspects who had recently been released from Ndorwa Prison and were back in circulation, along with individuals already on the police’s wanted list.
Notable Suspects Arrested
Key suspects facing charges related to robbery include Owamani Martin, Asiimwe Osbert, Kirabo Alex, Aryampa Elijah and Byaruhanga Ronald
Others arrested for possession and smoking of opium include Akankwasa Martin, Nuwagaba Joshua, Naturinda Obed, Akankwasa Gerald, along with several others.
The suspects were apprehended from multiple locations, including Mwisi in Kitumba Sub County, Kigongi area, near the stadium, and Mwanjari areas.
Recovery of Stolen Property
During the operation, a number of stolen items were recovered from the suspects’ residences and taken to Central Police Station (CPS) Kabale. The recovered property includes Laptops, T.V sets, Gas cylinders, Clothes, and other assorted items
Police have urged members of the public who may have been victims of recent thefts to visit CPS Kabale to identify their recovered property.
Maate emphasized that these operations will continue across the region as part of a broader effort to eliminate criminal networks.
“We want to ask our people to cooperate with the security and local leaders, and pass any vital information that can lead to the arrest of suspected wrong characters from their areas of residence,” he said .
