In an official announcement, UEDCL stated it is mobilizing significant resources to ensure the programme’s success, with the ultimate goal of delivering a reliable and future-ready power supply to every community, from urban centres to rural villages.
“We have embarked on an aggressive national programme to strengthen the grid and eliminate recurring power challenges. This includes the swift replacement of faulty transformers, comprehensive substation upgrades, and the installation of advanced electricity infrastructure,” the announcement read.
UEDCL’s new plan directly targets the persistent issue of transformer breakdowns which often leave communities without power for days by committing to a “swift replacement” protocol that is expected to drastically reduce downtime and improve response times.
The plan also includes comprehensive upgrades to critical substations. Modernizing this essential infrastructure is designed to improve voltage stability, reduce energy loss, and increase the grid’s capacity to meet both current and future electricity demand.
The strategy’s third pillar involves investing in “advanced electricity infrastructure,” suggesting a move toward smart grid technology that could enable real-time monitoring, automated fault detection, and improved load management.
