Reports suggest that Elisa was suspended from the school last week on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, following repeated acts of indiscipline that violated the school’s rules and regulations.
He reportedly returned to the school premises on the evening of Tuesday, June 8, 2026, and allegedly picked up and put on a student’s uniform that had been left hanging on a clothesline before he blended in with fellow students.
He briefly joined evening preps in the library before disappearing, only to be spotted moments later during a five-minute break, when a student rushing to the male dormitory for water saw flames and the half-dressed Elisa fleeing.
The Kigezi Regional police spokesperson, SP Nelson Tumushime, told the press that the officers at Butogota Police Station were notified and immediately rushed to the scene.
He added that with the help of the local community, they successfully contained the fire before it could spread further, though property was already destroyed.
“Elisa was suspended for breaking school rules but returned yesterday evening. He put on a stolen uniform, briefly joined library preps, then disappeared. During a five-minute break, a student saw flames in the dormitory and spotted Elisa fleeing half-dressed without a shirt,” said SP Tumushime.
The police spokesperson further confirmed that no injuries or loss of life were recorded and that the suspect was tracked down and remains in custody, with assessments and inquiries ongoing.
