The significant milestone was achieved through funding from the World Bank, under the Uganda Intergovernmental Fiscal Transfers (UGIFT) and Uganda Reproductive Maternal and Child Health Services Improvement Project (URMCHIP).

The upgraded Health Center IIIs are strategically located to serve various communities, providing essential healthcare services, including maternal and child health, disease prevention, and treatment.

The upgraded Health Center IIIs are equipped with modern medical equipment, staffed with trained healthcare professionals, and stocked with essential medicines, while the UGIFT and URMCHIP projects have also led to the construction of three regional blood banks in Arua, Hoima, and Soroti.

The construction of the regional blood banks and the upgrading of Health Center IIIs demonstrate the government’s commitment to strengthening the healthcare system and improving the health and well-being of Ugandans.

The Ministry of Health’s efforts to upgrade healthcare infrastructure and services are expected to have a positive impact on the country’s health indicators, including reducing maternal and child mortality rates.

The Arua and Hoima Blood Banks have been equipped to provide safe blood storage and transfusion services, increasing the availability of blood for patients in need, reducing the risk of blood-borne infections, and improving emergency response and care.

The upgraded Health Center IIIs and regional blood banks are expected to make a positive impact on the lives of many people, particularly those in rural and underserved areas.
