The Kabale District Electoral Commission, Returning Officer, Aisha Nansubuga, has issued a caution to voters against arriving late and provided further clarification on voter eligibility ahead of tomorrow’s elections for LC.1 Chairpersons and their Committees.
Her remarks come ahead of the highly anticipated elections, in which Ugandans from across the country are expected to vote for LC.1 Chairpersons and their Committees in 71,214 villages.
Speaking on a local radio station in Kabale District today, Ms. Nansubuga stated that Kabale District is fully prepared to implement the electoral program as scheduled by the Electoral Commission. She added that a security meeting was concluded to assess and discuss the district’s readiness.
”The heads of security have assured us that they are 100% prepared to support the process, ensuring a free, fair, and peaceful election,” she said.
However, Ms. Nansubuga emphasized the importance of punctuality, reminding voters that voting will commence at 11:00 am by lining up behind candidates. She cautioned that arriving late could result in some voters being unable to cast their ballots.

Ms. Nansubuga further clarified that only individuals listed in the Village Registers will be eligible to vote, dismissing earlier confusion surrounding voter eligibility. She refuted claims that the National Voter Register would be used, explaining that “Fresh registration was conducted at the village level, and only those who were registered will be allowed to vote.”
