RUKIGA – The Senior Presidential Advisor, Ms. Peace Rugambwa, has implored the people of Rukiga, Rukungiri, and Ntungamo Districts to give their full backing to NRM candidates in the local Council elections.

“Strong LC I and II leaderships are the very foundation of a strong government. These are the leaders who live with you, know your challenges, and are the first link in delivering services to the grassroots,” Presidential Advisor Peace stated.
Ms. Peace Rugambwa underscored the importance of continuity and inclusive service delivery, urging voters to look at the proven track record of the NRM under the stewardship of President Museveni.
The Presidential Advisor argued that electing NRM flag bearers ensures alignment with the government’s development agenda and secures leaders who will actively mobilise communities for transformative programmes.
Peace Rugambwa highlighted the Parish Development Model (PDM) and the Emyooga initiative, which are designed to lift households out of poverty through targeted financial support and enterprise development.
“Vote for leaders who will not just sit in offices but will go to the ground to ensure every parish and every village understands these programmes. We want leaders who will ensure that the money meant for wealth creation reaches the intended beneficiaries,” Peace noted.
She also rallied party members to remain united and turn out in large numbers on polling day, insisting that steadfast solidarity and high voter participation are essential to securing a decisive NRM victory at the village level.
The Local Council I Chairperson elections are scheduled for Tuesday, July 28, 2026, where registered villagers will line up peacefully behind their preferred candidate at designated village polling centres.
Subsequently, the Local Council II Parish Chairperson elections will take place on Monday, August 10, 2026, following the completion and display of the updated voters’ register by parish officials.
Both elections will be overseen by trained village and parish election officials nationwide, with security agencies on standby to ensure a peaceful exercise.
