The robust assurance comes at a pivotal moment, as electorates countrywide gear up for the highly anticipated Local Council I elections, scheduled for Tuesday, July 28, 2026.

Addressing the press at the Kigezi Regional Police headquarters in Kabale Municipality, spokesperson SP Nelson Tumushime confirmed that all is set for tomorrow’s elections, with security agencies working in seamless synergy to safeguard the electoral process.

He declared that police are fully prepared to ensure uninterrupted voting, while warning that any individual attempting to disrupt the civic exercise will face the full force of the law.

“All is set for tomorrow’s elections. We are fully prepared to ensure that the voting goes on uninterrupted, and we send a clear warning that whoever attempts to disrupt this civic exercise shall be brought to book,” SP Tumushime declared.

He added that the Police have activated a multi-layered security strategy covering every facet of the electoral cycle, including dedicated Political and Crimes Offenses Desks at all district headquarters to swiftly address any malpractices.

The Police Spokesperson said that a visible security presence will be deployed to protect Electoral Commission officials, equipment, polling stations, candidates, voters, and their agents throughout the process.

SP Tumushime further appealed to the public to report any incidents that could jeopardize the exercise and urged collective responsibility in safeguarding the region’s democratic integrity.

“We are ready, on the ground, and alert. Anyone who disrupts the vote will be arrested. I call on residents to vote without fear, reject corruption, and respect the outcome. Let us protect the people’s voice and keep Kigezi a symbol of peace,” SP Tumushime stated.

Police have since assured the public that the people of Kigezi are ready to exercise their democratic right in a safe and calm environment, as final preparations reach completion.
