Kisoro, Uganda – The Chairperson of Nyaruhengeri Village in Southern Division, Kisoro Municipality, Epafra Kwiringira Diplomat, has raised concerns about the impact of night prayers on family stability in the area.

According to Kwiringira, the trend has led to many women spending nights away from home, claiming to attend prayers, resulting in increased domestic conflicts and a proliferation of churches in the area.
Kwiringira also called on fellow LC1 chairpersons and community leaders to regularly engage with residents, stay informed about community issues, and address emerging concerns.

In response, Kisoro Resident District Commissioner Hajji Badru Ssebyalla has urged both men and women to prioritize family bonding by spending their nights together at home.
Ssebyalla warned that frequent night prayers could have negative consequences, including child neglect, poor home sanitation, lack of meals, and even dishonesty.
He also warned that the trend could lead men to seek extramarital relationships in bars, potentially bringing diseases home, and urged religious leaders to reconsider night prayers that may be contributing to family breakdown.
