RUKIGA: The contesting Miss Tourism Kigezi, Beauty Pageants have joined the Muhanga tweyonje group to commemorate the Muhanga sanitation Day in Rukiga District.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!In a function held on Wednesday 12th June 2024 at Nyikunama playground involved a number of activities including; general cleaning of Muhanga town in Muhanga Town Council, sanitation Lessons among others.
Speaking to the Participants, the Rukiga District Speaker Rt. Hon. Oscar Akampurira appreciated the Muhanga tweyonje group for staging an Example to show communities’ that Cleanness is part of having good health.
The speaker assured the group of a collective support from the district leadership in partnership with the Town Council Leadership in finding a possible solution to the scattered wastes within the town due to the lack of areas for the waste disposal.
“Muhanga Tweyonje Group has stood as an outstanding example to us, we should always know that our general cleanness goes beyond determining our health. We as the District leaders will work hand in hand with the Town Council leadership to secure waste disposal places” said Oscar Akampurira.
The Founder of Muhanga Tweyonje Group Mrs. Ruth Katambira said that the objective of the group is to educate the people on how to keep the environment clean free from diseases and to ensure that people remain in good health.
Ruth Katambira added that as Muhanga Tweyonje Group, they have a future plan of creating a waste recycling center in Rukiga District, purposely to turn wastes into products that can go on Market and be of use.
Speaking on behalf of the contesting Miss Tourism Kigezi beauty pageant Ms. Tusiimire Deborah from Kanungu District discouraged the habits of dumping Kasasiro all over empathizing a need of creating proper waste disposal places.
Deborah added that the wastes if handled well can turn into an Organic manure that can be used by farmers to enhance sustainable crop production thus urging communities to join hands in collecting wastes to specific places.
The Mayor of Muhanga Town Council Twijukye James promised to find the possible huge area for gathering the Kasasiro and discouraged habits of dumping waste products allover.
Muhanga Tweyonje group is a community based organization, established and registered in 2014, with an objective of working hand in hand with the community and the government to sensitize communities on maintaining a safe and clean environment.
