RUBIRIZI – Christians have been called to embrace spiritual growth, love, kindness, and togetherness as foundational pillars to inspire greater generosity within their communities.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! The call was made by Rev. Fr. Adolph Ludiga, Deputy Parish Priest of Buhinda Catholic Parish, during the Uganda Martyrs Day celebrations held at the parish grounds in Rutoto Sub-county, Rubirizi District.
Leading the Thanksgiving Mass, Fr. Ludiga emphasized that Uganda Martyrs Day is not merely a historical commemoration but a blessed occasion of gratitude, reflection, renewal, and a recommitment to the values that unite all believers.
“I would like to charge all of you to grow in your faith, show love, be kind, and stay united so you can become more generous in your communities. Uganda Martyrs Day is not just about remembering the past. It is a blessed day to give thanks, think about our lives, renew our faith, and commit again to the values that bring us together,” remarked Fr. Ludiga.
He urged believers to work diligently, love unconditionally, trust God as their ultimate savior, and carry forward the true spirit of Martyrs Day by promoting kindness in their daily lives.
Banturakyi John, Chairperson of the Elders’ Forum for Rubirizi District, urged Christians to collaborate harmoniously, steer clear of conflict, and focus on peaceful actions that lead to household prosperity.
He also appealed to parents to prioritize their children’s education, engage in income-generating activities to secure their families’ futures, and build stronger communities through unity and hard work.
Rev. Fr. Alphonse Mukundane, the main celebrant of the Mass, asked believers to endure hardships and practice self-sacrifice like the martyrs, while also calling on Christians to embrace repentance, discipline, hard work, and a lasting legacy as the only way to live a fruitful life on earth.
He warned against living by exploitation and urged Christians to love their religion and build a good name for future generations, while also asking parents to reconnect their families through compassion, love, and togetherness.
“Christians should embrace total repentance, discipline, and hard work while building a lasting legacy, because these are the only ways to live a fruitful life on earth. Do not live by exploitation. Love your religion and build your name in good faith so that future generations remember you for the right reasons,” Fr. Mukundane warned.
The District Rubirizi LC V Councilor, Hon. Bijirwa Anthony, speaking on behalf of MP Cadet Benjamin Buturo, the guest of honor, asked people to love God, show respect, and work hard, noting that the election period is now over.
He called on all citizens to embrace forgiveness and reconciliation, to work together, to turn back to God for more blessings, and to reflect on the courage and faith of the martyrs, which continue to inspire unwavering faith.
Turnout was minimal, widely attributed to the public health guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health concerning the Ebola outbreak, which include regular handwashing and the observation of social distancing.
