RUBIRIZI – The Minister of State for Northern Uganda, Hon. Beatrice Akello, has tasked the Lions Club of Rubirizi leadership with embracing integrity, commitment, love, and respect as they connect government initiatives with community needs.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!The Minister said this over the weekend during the installation of Lion Bamugaya Vincent as President of the Rubirizi Lions Club leadership, an event held at the club’s headquarters in Kizurugo Cell, Magambo Sub-county, Rubirizi district.
Hon. Beatrice urged the leaders to actively promote government programs in schools and health centers, ensuring that no resident is left behind in the collective pursuit of prosperity and improved livelihoods.
“You have to bridge the gap between the government and the community. Act as ambassadors who promote government programs in our schools and health centers, ensuring that no one is left behind in our quest for prosperity,” Minister Beatrice urged.
Minister Beatrice donated Shs 10 million to boost the Lions Club of Rubirizi’s wide-ranging community service activities, aimed at strengthening efforts to fight poverty and hunger in the district.
She praised the club as a vital partner in the national development agenda, noting that its grassroots interventions are making a real difference in transforming lives and complementing government programs.
“I commend the Lions Club of Rubirizi for standing with the government to help our people achieve sustainable livelihoods,” Hon. Akello stated.
The Lions Club President for Rubirizi district, Bamugaya Vincent, unveiled an ambitious and visionary agenda focused on serving the most vulnerable people in the Rubirizi community.
He pledged to lead with action and impact by organizing a large-scale medical camp with Rubirizi Local Government and the Ministry of Health, and by lobbying for zebra crossings and commuter bus stop shades to improve safety and transport.
Bamugaya further committed to partnering with Rubirizi Town Council to boost garbage collection, improve sanitation, and fix drainage in the busy towns of Ndekye and Nyakasharu for a cleaner environment.
“This tenure will be defined by impact. We are committing to a large-scale medical camp, safer crossings for our children, and better sanitation in Ndekye and Nyakasharu. Development starts at the grassroots,” Bamugaya stated.
Presiding as Chief Guest, Johnbosco Ntagare of Lions International Uganda, showered praise on the Bamugaya family for their steadfast commitment and vision in establishing the Rubirizi chapter.
“This club has already begun to serve the vulnerable, and it is a testament to what humble families can achieve when they unite for a common good,” Ntagare remarked.
He assured members that Lions Clubs International remains deeply committed to collaborating with both government entities and local communities to advance crucial sectors including education, health, road safety, and environmental conservation.
