The Chairperson handed over office ahead of his inauguration following his recent election victory.

The dinner was organized at Kalu Hotel in Kabale town, by Mr. Kasyaba’s friends and supporters, led by “Rubanda Buddies,” a community of elite youths who have come together through a WhatsApp forum. This group has used the platform for the past eight to ten years to advance social, economic, and political interests in Rubanda District.

The event also attracted several elected leaders and technocrats from the Rubanda District Local Government, along with invited guests from neighboring districts.

The Dinner Coordinator, Mr. Allan Ayebazibwe, explained that most of the attendees had been actively involved in mobilization campaigns for Chairman Kasyaba, particularly during the 2020/2021 and 2025/2026 elections.

Mr. Ayebazibwe, who is also a youth leader in Nyamweru Subcounty, stated that they began gathering funds for the dinner without the knowledge of the Chairman, to appreciate him for his dedicated service to people of Rubanda and to congratulate him upon winning another term of five years in office.

Rubanda District Secretary for Health and Education, Mr. Obed Mutatiina Kitabutuuka, who also attended the celebrations, described Kasyaba as a dedicated LC.5 Chairperson whose leadership has transformed the district and is therefore worth celebrating.

“In the last five years, few districts in Western Uganda have successfully implemented as many projects in the area of service delivery,” Mutatiina remarked.

He highlighted some of the key projects, including the establishment of the district’s first hospital in Muko Subcounty, the construction of two seed secondary schools in Hamuhambo and  Ruhiija town Councils, gravity flow water schemes in water stressed areas, and road rehabilitations, among others.

In his speech, Mr. Kasyaba expressed gratitude for the dinner organized by his friends and pledged to repay their support by working even harder in his next term. He assured them that he would strive to keep  Rubanda leading as a model district, in line of service delivery for effective Social-economic transformation.

During the event, a group led by businessman Medard Asiimwe, a resident of Karukara Ward in Hamurwa Town Council, gifted Kasyaba Shs. 500,000 to purchase a new shirt and shoes for his upcoming swearing-in ceremony scheduled in two weeks. The group also pledged to contribute more funds toward acquiring a new suit for the Chairman ahead of his inauguration.

In the Rubanda District LC.5 Chairperson election held on January 22, 2026, Ampeire Stephen Kasyaba, the incumbent and NRM flag bearer, was declared the winner with 55,318 votes (74.36%). He defeated independent candidate Julius Twinomujuni Buzaare, who received 19,079 votes (25.64%).

Kasyaba, who has served as the second LC.5 Chairperson of Rubanda District since 2021, is expected to take the oath of office for his second term on May 22, 2026.
