KABALE – Kigezi-based veteran journalist Rogers Kabanda has firmly denied any connection to complaints regarding the Shs100 million Presidential revolving fund disbursed to the Kigezi Masters of Ceremonies and Panelists Association.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! The development follows a news article published on the Entebbe Post website, titled “The one complaining about Emcees funds is not our member,” in which the Kigezi Emcees Association Coordinator spoke out on the mismanagement allegations.
The publication quotes the association’s Coordinator, Sheikh Kassimu Kamugisha, directly naming one Kabanda as the individual behind social media posts under the pseudonym “True Leader” alleging mismanagement of the funds.
In a detailed press release issued on Friday, May 8, 2026, Kabanda categorically refuted all claims linking him to the matter, saying plainly that he has never been a member of the association, nor has he ever subscribed to, affiliated with, or applied to join.
“I am not a member, and I have not complained. I have never subscribed to, affiliated with, or applied to join the Kigezi Masters of Ceremonies and Panelists Association. I therefore could not have been a beneficiary or complainant in relation to the Shs100 million Presidential revolving fund,” Kabanda stated.
Kabanda asserted he lodged no complaint with State House or the Kabale RDC’s office regarding the funds, denied authoring any post about the money, thus calling the statements linking him to the matter false and a misuse of his name and reputation.
Kabanda demanded that the coordinator, Kassimu, retract the false statements made in the news posts, issue an apology through the same media channels, and cease any further mention of his name in relation to the association’s funds or internal disputes.
He further warned that should these falsehoods continue to be published or circulated, he has instructed his lawyers to commence legal proceedings for defamation to protect his name and reputation, and he reserves all his rights.
“I have lodged no complaint with any authority regarding these funds. Any statements linking me to complaints, posts under the name ‘True Leader,’ or political disputes in Kabale Municipality are false. My name and reputation are being misused. Should these falsehoods continue, I have instructed my lawyers to commence defamation proceedings to protect my name,” Kabanda asserted.
The Entebbe publication quoted Sheikh Kamugisha saying that Kabanda is not a member of the association, as well as the State House official together with Kabale RDC Maj. Godfrey Katamba both confirming the same.
The sources allege that Kabanda has been behind malicious posts, despite their denial of his membership, while he firmly refutes any complaint or social media activity on the topic, stating he has been falsely dragged into the dispute.
Kabanda urges the public and media houses to disregard false information linking him to this matter, and he has stated his willingness to cooperate with any lawful authority should clarification be needed.
