The incident occurred on May 25, 2025, at around 9:00 PM at Rwakimuri cell, Nyakabungo parish, Bukinda sub-county, Rukiga district.

According to reports, Hakiri and one of the suspects, Nkurunungi Fortunate, had been working together on a bricklaying project for Twebaze Evalisit.

On May 24, 2025, at around 9:00 PM, the two men went to a bar owned by Ninsiima to drink alcohol, where they got into a quarrel over payment from their employer. The dispute escalated into a physical fight using sticks when they returned to their residence.

Their manager discovered Hakiri unconscious and called a doctor to treat him at home, but he was pronounced dead on arrival, prompting the police to open a murder case and launch an investigation.

According to the Kigezi Police Spokesperson, ASP Elly Maate, the crime scene was visited, processed, and documented, and statements were recorded from witnesses.

Maate confirmed that a post-mortem examination was conducted, the body was handed over to relatives for a decent burial, and two suspects, Nkurunungi Fortunate and Twinamatsiko Brian, have been arrested to assist with the investigation.

The police are working to gather more evidence and piece together the circumstances surrounding Hakiri’s death, with the investigation ongoing.
