Addressing Chief Administrative Officers, Town Clerks, and Under Secretaries at State House in Entebbe, Museveni declared war on corruption, citing the Inspector General of Government’s estimate that Shs 10 trillion is diverted annually due to corrupt practices.

Museveni stressed the importance of enforcing free education in government schools to ensure all Ugandans have access to quality education.

He also highlighted the need to address land grabbing, which undermines government efforts to improve living standards.

“We must tackle the obstacles hindering our service delivery, including corruption in education and healthcare, as well as land grabbing. Enforcing free education in government schools is crucial, and we must safeguard our health system’s integrity by stopping drug theft,” said President Museveni.

The president emphasized that socio-economic transformation is crucial for achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), drawing examples from countries like China, Vietnam, and South Korea that have undergone successful transformations.

By tackling corruption and promoting socio-economic development, Museveni aims to improve the lives of Ugandans and drive national growth.

Museveni has previously identified key figures responsible for corruption in Uganda, including Permanent Secretaries, Chief Administrative Officers, Town Clerks, and Gombolola Chiefs, and has vowed to take action against them.

He believes that involving the public in the fight against corruption is essential, urging citizens to hold leaders accountable for resources meant for development.
