RUBANDA, UGANDA – The office of the Rubanda Resident District Commissioner (RDC) has issued a stern warning against plans to disrupt the forthcoming general elections, citing intelligence reports of suspicious meetings with outsiders.

The sharp caution was delivered by the Assistant RDC, Mr. Martin Turyagyenda, during the Rubanda District Council session held on Friday, December 19th, 2025, at the District Council Hall.

Addressing the council, Mr. Turyagyenda confirmed that district security organs have been placed on high alert following reports of individuals allegedly holding clandestine meetings aimed at sabotaging the electoral process.

He announced that as part of proactive measures, unnecessary vehicular movement will be restricted during the critical election period to ensure public order and safety.

“Intelligence points to meetings with outsiders plotting to disrupt the elections. Security is on high alert, and we will restrict non-essential vehicular movement to safeguard the electoral process. We urge the public to remain vigilant,” stated the Assistant RDC Turyagyenda.

The warning underscores the administration’s commitment to ensuring a free, fair, and peaceful election environment for all voters in Rubanda.

During the same session, the council achieved a significant milestone in local governance by unanimously approving a new 5-member District Land Board.

The board, presented by LCV Chairperson Hon. Stephen Ampeire Kasyaba, is tasked primarily with addressing the longstanding backlog of land cases and disputes that have hampered development in the district.

The newly approved board comprises Jimmy Musime as Chairperson, alongside members Mr. Demiano Mutabazi, Ms. Mary Abomugisha, Mr. Vanancio Byamugisha, and Mrs. Cecilia Namara.

While presenting the names for approval, Chairperson Ampeire Kasyaba highlighted the district’s challenging history with unresolved land conflicts, directly attributed to the absence of a functional Land Board.

He further emphasized the urgent need for the district to engage government lawyers to robustly defend its interests in land-related matters.

The establishment of this board is a decisive step towards resolving property disputes, securing land rights for residents, and fostering a more stable environment for investment.
