Speaking on Friday at a well-attended gathering in Rukungiri Park, Gen. Tumukunde framed the upcoming election as a critical choice for the municipality’s future.

He declared that the people of Rukungiri Municipality deserve and require leaders who are capable, deeply attuned to their daily challenges, genuinely committed to service delivery, and driven by a clear vision for development.

Tumukunde presented a focused agenda centered on peace, unity, and infrastructure, with key pledges to revitalize the Rukungiri Central Market, enhance Rukungiri Park as a community hub, and promote sustainable development across the municipality.

He further committed to fostering a new era of transparency, specifically in the management and allocation of development funds to the village level.

“I pledge to ensure a transparent and accountable process for all resources, working in close consultation with local leaders to ensure every shilling reaches its intended purpose for the benefit of our people,” Tumukunde assured.

Striking a conciliatory tone, General Tumukunde called for a peaceful and issue-based campaign centered on the municipality’s progress.

He urged all candidates and supporters to elevate local development above partisan politics through a constructive competition of ideas.

Rukungiri district remains in the hands of the electorate to judge, with two veteran generals contesting to join the Parliament of Uganda and represent the interests of its people.
