RUKIGA, UGANDA – Mwesigwa Chrispus, a resident of Rukiga District, has presented proof of ownership for properties seized from his home during a recent coordinated security operation involving police and local boda boda riders.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!The operation, which took place on September 25, 2025, saw officers and members of the Local Boda Boda Association raid Mwesigwa’s home in Kabimbiri Cell, Kyerero Parish, Bukinda Sub-county, alleging he was harboring stolen motorcycles.
During the search, the team confiscated several key items as evidential exhibits, including a motorcycle believed to be at the center of the allegations, a collection of spare parts, and personal effects such as boots and clothing.
In a follow-up appearance at the Rukiga Central Police Station on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, Mwesigwa presented a logbook for motorcycle registration number UEL 783S (TVS) to support his claim.
Accompanied by the LC III Chairperson of Bukinda Sub-county, Jack Tugume, and his parents, Mwesigwa also presented a Kyankwanzi retreat certificate.
He stated the document explains how he acquired security items like the boots and clothing that were seized, among other supporting proofs.
The Rukiga District Police Commander, SP Musinguzi Moses Karakire, confirmed in a phone interview that the suspect was granted bail after recording his statement.
“We will now engage with the whistleblowers of the operation for further information,” stated DPC Musinguzi, following the presentation of the new evidence.
Pending the outcome of the ongoing inquiry, police are retaining custody of all evidential materials, which now encompass both the physical items seized during the raid and the newly presented ownership documents.
