KABALE – The long-serving Public Relations Officer of the Kigezi Region Police, ASP Elly Maate, has been transferred to Rwenzori.

Maate, who has served as the Public Relations Officer for the Kigezi Region since 2011, states that the Inspector General of Police, in his wisdom, decided to transfer him closer to his home in Kaseese District, as he is nearing retirement.
”Of course, the Inspector General of Police has seen that my services are required elsewhere, especially as I am preparing to retire. I should be near home so that I can properly plan my exit,” he said.
Having served in the region for 15 years, Maate mentioned that Kigezi had become his second home. He also said he would remain in touch with the people in the area, particularly through social media.

He expressed gratitude to the media for providing him with unlimited space to communicate with the people of Kigezi, as well as with religious leaders, local government officials, schools, and other members of the public who supported his office in crime management.

Maate was transferred along with other police officials, including SP Tumuhairwe Alex, who has been transferred from being Officer in Charge of Police Station Kisoro to URBS , and ASP Bikomo Muhangi Charles, who has been transferred from being Officer in Charge of Police Station Nagasongola to Kisoro in the same capacity.
