KISORO – The married couple was shot and killed on Saturday night by unidentified gunmen in a brazen attack as they returned from their shop in Kisoro district.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!The deceased have been identified as Nteziyaremye Africano and his wife, Kyompeire Peace, who allegedly were shot at around 11:00 p.m. on 17th October 2026 in Zindiro Cell, Kamonyi Ward in Kisoro Municipality.
Reliable sources indicate that the couple was attacked and shot dead by yet-to-be-identified assailants believed to have been armed with a firearm as they returned home from their wholesale shop in the town.
The Kigezi Regional Police spokesperson, SP Nelson Tumushime, confirmed that the police were notified and the scene of the crime was examined by a team of detectives and a canine unit for evidence gathering.
SP Tumushime confirmed that no arrests have been made yet, noting that they have actively launched a manhunt to track and apprehend the suspects behind the brazen killing.
“We were notified and our team of detectives together with the canine unit examined the scene of the crime to gather evidence. As of now, no arrests have been made yet, but we have launched a manhunt to track and arrest the suspects behind this brazen killing,” said SP Tumushime.
The Police Spokesperson further appealed to anyone with information on the heinous and terrible double murder incident to report to the nearest police station, assuring confidentiality.
The serious killing of the couple has sent shockwaves through the Kisoro Municipality business community, where the two were known as hardworking shopkeepers.
