Police Pledge Partnership as Buhara Gets New Sub-county Structures

Police in Kabale have hailed the newly commissioned Buhara Sub-county Headquarters as a major step toward bringing services closer to residents and strengthening grassroots security. The offices, commissioned on October 16, 2026 by Minister of State for Investment and Privatization Hon. Hajjat Amina Mukalazi, were fully funded by Sino Minerals Investments Company Limited under its CSR program. Police spokesperson SP Nelson Tumushime said the structure will boost community policing and help curb poverty-linked crime.

The development followed the official commissioning of the Buhara Sub-county offices on Friday, October 16, 2026, an event presided over by the Minister of State for Investment and Privatization in the Ministry of Finance, Hon. Hajjat Amina Mukalazi.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Kigezi Regional Police spokesperson, SP Nelson Tumushime, noted that the new structure will bring services closer to the people and strengthen security coordination at the grassroots level.

He added that the presence of the new sub-county structures at Buhara will provide space for community policing and enhance the implementation of government programs aimed at reducing crime related to poverty and unemployment.

“The presence of new Sub-county structures at Buhara will provide space for Community Policing and enhance the implementation of government programs aimed at reducing crime related to poverty and unemployment. We pledge to work closely with the Sub-county leadership to ensure law and order prevails,” Tumushime said.

Presiding over the function, Minister Amina Mukalazi charged the sub-county leadership to coordinate with district security to keep the area secure and peaceful, noting that the area harbors people from across the neighboring Rwanda.

The Minister pledged the government’s continued and unwavering support to ensure the sub-county fully achieves its core mandate of effectively bridging the gap between leaders and the people.

The new sub-county offices were constructed and fully funded by Sino Minerals Investments Company Limited as part of its broader Corporate Social Responsibility initiative.
