KABALE – The New Chairperson for Northern Division in Kabale Municipality, Patrick Tushabomwe, has been sworn-in to begin his office today, unveiling drainage and road rehabilitation as key priorities in his administration.

He explained that residents in parts of Bugongi and Kijuguta wards have been suffering from flooding during the rainy season due to blocked drainage channels, such as culverts, which had been obstructed during house construction.
My plan is to help reopen these channels and create additional ones where necessary.” he said.

Mr. Tushabomwe also stated that the division would work on opening several community feeder roads that are currently in poor condition. This effort aims to improve access to main roads and increase land value in the benefitting areas.

Furthermore, he revealed plans to hold regular community Baraza meetings. These gatherings aim to identify challenges faced by residents, improve service delivery, and find lasting solutions to community issues.
Speaking as the Chief Guest, Kabale Municipality Mayor Emmanuel Sentaro urged the newly sworn-in councilors to cooperate with the Chairman and assist him in fulfilling his manifesto for a successful term of office.
“You owe him loyalty and cooperation because that is what you have pledged while taking oaths. He is the one with the Division’s Manifesto, and therefore your support to his office is paramount” Sentaro said.

During the first council sitting, Patience Kyogaba, the female councilor representing Rutooma Ward, was elected Speaker unopposed. Tadeo Matsiko, popularly known as Simple T, was elected Deputy Speaker unopposed.
Chairman Patrick Tushabomwe started formation of the Division’s Executive Committee by appointing Ketty Baryayanga, the female councilor representing Kijuguta Upper Ward , as Vice Chairperson.
Others include Mr. Timothy Tumwijukye Rukehikira, the male LCIII Councilor for Kijuguta Ward ( Secretary for Production), and Ms. Mbabazi Allen, the female LCIII Councilor for Kijuguta (Secretary for Works).
Additionally, Mr. Raymond Alex Byamukama, the LCIII Councilor for Upper Bugongi, was appointed Secretary for Finance.
