The vehicle, a blue Toyota Isuzu lorry with registration number UP00287, was delivered to the regional headquarters in Kabale on Wednesday, May 20th, 2026.

The vehicle was formally received by the Regional Police Commander (RPC) for Kigezi, SSP Wabwire Alex, alongside members of the regional police staff.

Speaking on behalf of the command, the Kigezi regional police spokesperson, ASP Maate Elly, confirmed the receipt and conveyed heartfelt appreciation to the office of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and his entire team.

“The RPC Kigezi region, SSP Wabwire Alex, and the entire Kigezi police family hereby express their sincere gratitude to the IGP Afande Byakagaba and his team for considering Kigezi region in the allocation of this troop carrier,” stated Elly Maate.

The addition of the new lorry will significantly enhance the region’s capacity to execute critical policing activities and facilitate operations in any other role required for service delivery.

Expected to improve mobility, rapid response, and logistical support, the troop carrier’s arrival addresses the unique challenges of law enforcement across the hilly terrain of the Kigezi sub-region.

The gesture underscores the IGP’s continued efforts to decentralize resources and strengthen operational readiness at the regional level.
