KABALE – The NRM Leadership of Kabale has today held belated celebrations in honor of the recent swearing-in of Ms. Enid Atuheire Origumisiriza as the district’s new Woman Member of Parliament, featuring a cake-cutting ceremony.

It was attended by members of the District Executive Committee (DEC) and the Municipality Executive Committee (MEC), led by Ms. Bridget Asinga Tumwesigye, the District NRM Chairperson.

Ms. Asinga stated that Enid Origumisiriza herself delivered the cake to Kabale NRM leaders in appreciation of their remarkable contribution to her victory in the district Woman MP elections held on January 15, 2026. She expressed pride in Origumisiriza’s decision to celebrate with the NRM fraternity in Kabale, especially since many could not attend the official oath-taking in Kampala on May 15, 2026.

Mr. Edison Turyahabwa, the NRM Secretary for Publicity, attributed Origumisiriza’s victory to the collective efforts of NRM structures from district to village level. He praised the new MP for sharing her swearing-in celebration with party leaders.

Also present was Mr. Benson Kabagambe, LC.4 Councilor for Central Ward and Kabale Municipality Secretary for Publicity. He congratulated Origumisiriza and pledged his full support as she begins her term from 2026 to 2031.

While addressing a section of supporters after the swearing-in, Origumisiriza thanked the people of Kabale for electing her as the District Woman MP. She pledged to serve them to the best of her ability and called for increased support and cooperation as she executes her parliamentary duties for the growth and development of Kabale District.

In the 2026 Kabale District Woman MP election, NRM’s Enid Atuheire Origumisiriza was declared the winner with 46,797 votes, defeating her closest rival and incumbent Woman MP, Catherine Atwakiire Ndamira, who garnered 40,722 votes, according to results announced by Ms. Aisha Nansubuga, the District Registrar.
Other candidates included Grace Ankunda Bekunda Bwesigye (2,558 votes), former radio presenter Trust Kyomugisha (386 votes), Rosette Asiimwe (97 votes), Tracy Immaculate Ninsiima (352 votes), and Immaculate Kagwa Nyemera (301 votes).
This was Enid’s second attempt at the Kabale District Woman MP seat, following an unsuccessful bid in the 2021 election, when she was defeated by Catherine Ndamira.
