The Archbishop made the remarks on Thursday during a pastoral visit to Kyamwiru Catholic Parish in Katerera, Rubirizi District, where he administered the Sacrament of Confirmation to 290 Christians.

Addressing a packed congregation, Archbishop Binomugisha delivered a strong message on the importance of reverence and decency in places of worship.

He specifically highlighted the need for modest dressing among the faithful, condemning the growing trend of wearing attire he described as inappropriate for church, including mini-skirts and tight-fitting clothes.

“The house of God is a sacred place, and we must present ourselves with the respect and dignity it deserves. Our dressing should reflect the reverence we have for the Lord and should not be a source of distraction or scandal,” Archbishop Binomugisha said.

The Archbishop also cautioned Christians against spending time on their phones during liturgy, urging them instead to focus their full attention on the Word of God and the celebration of the Eucharist.

During the visit, Archbishop Binomugisha administered the Sacrament of Confirmation, strengthening the 290 Christians of Kyamwiru Parish in their faith journey.

He urged the newly confirmed and the youth present to be exemplary role models by dedicating themselves to prayer and actively spreading the Gospel.

“I encourage you, the young people, to love and trust God with all your hearts. Respect one another and live virtuous lives,” he advised.

The Archbishop also reminded parents of their crucial role in raising children with strong moral values, while calling upon children to reciprocate by respecting and obeying their parents.

The Parish Priest of Kyamwiru Catholic Parish, Rev. Fr. Amen Mukasa, expressed gratitude for the Archbishop’s visit. He outlined ongoing plans to complete the construction of the parish church and initiate other vital projects, while thanking the Christians of Kyamwiru for their unwavering cooperation and support. Fr. Mukasa also encouraged the newly confirmed to live as true ambassadors of Christ in their communities and advised them to keep their confirmation documents safe for future ecclesiastical reference.

The Head of Laity for Kyamwiru Catholic Parish, Mr. Besime Robert, appreciated Archbishop Binomugisha for his spiritual guidance and fatherly visit.

He echoed the Archbishop’s sentiments, urging the young people to commit themselves wholly to serving God and to live by the Christian values they have professed.

The event at Kyamwiru Catholic Parish was a vibrant display of faith, marked by joyous celebration and a collective recommitment to living a life rooted in Christian principles.
