RUKUNGIRI, UGANDA – Retired headteachers in Rukungiri District have been encouraged to uphold a strong saving culture and engage in activities that promote mental alertness, productivity, and social well-being.

Keredonia urged retired headteachers to save part of their pension for future use and to focus on creating wealth through various income-generating activities. She emphasized the need for a positive mindset, explaining that development begins with personal initiative.
Speaking at the same event, Katende Paulo, the Deputy Assistant Secretary in the office of the Rukungiri District Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), who represented the CAO, encouraged retired headteachers to remain productive.
He advised them to engage in projects such as coffee growing and other small businesses that can improve their livelihoods and contribute to community development.
The Chairperson of the Rukungiri District Retired Headteachers Association, David Kapira, said the purpose of the gathering was to reunite retired education officers, inspectors, and headteachers from primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions.
He noted that retired educators are still valued in their communities and urged them to stay organized to more easily access district support.
Kapira added that such gatherings help members share knowledge and skills that enhance their livelihoods and ongoing engagement.
