The endorsement came during a well-attended delegates’ meeting held on Friday, August 8, 2026, at the Ntungamo District Council Hall, demonstrating strong grassroots support for Speaker Among’s leadership bid ahead of the party’s upcoming elections.

Speaker Among was represented at the event by Hon. Dickson Kateshumbwa, Member of Parliament for Sheema Municipality, and Hon. Dan Atwijukire Kimosho, MP for Kazo County.

Hon. Kimosho praised the Speaker’s strong leadership and dedication to both the NRM and Uganda, stating that her election would strengthen the party’s position in Ugandan politics for decades to come.

He particularly commended Ntungamo residents for their united support of Speaker Among’s candidacy.

“The overwhelming endorsement from Ntungamo reflects the people’s confidence in Speaker Among’s vision and her capacity to advance the party’s agenda. This show of unity establishes a solid foundation as we prepare for the crucial delegates’ conference at Kololo Independence Grounds,” Kimosho stated.

Hon. Kateshumbwa highlighted that supporting Speaker Among would bolster her initiatives for women’s empowerment and enhance the NRM’s presence in Eastern Uganda.

The formal endorsement motion was presented by District Speaker Twikiriize Nicholas Mugyenyi and seconded by Rubaare Sub-County Councillor John Kabeho, with full approval from the assembly.

In a moving moment, Ntungamo Deputy RDC Rosemary Atuhaire made a passionate appeal to delegates, kneeling as she urged continued support for President Yoweri Museveni and the NRM to sustain national peace and security.

NRM Chairman Fred Muhinda reaffirmed the party’s dedication to grassroots mobilization and effective implementation of government programs.

The gathering showcased remarkable party unity as leaders and delegates united behind Speaker Among’s candidacy, indicating strong momentum for leadership continuity within the NRM.
