“Live in a way that leaves a lasting and positive impact, so that your name is remembered with respect and admiration,” Bishop Akanjuna said.
He eulogized the late Alinaitwe as a devoted father who instilled strong values in his children, a loving husband who cherished his wife until his last moments, and a respected educator who upheld his professional integrity throughout his career.
As mourners listened intently, the bishop’s message cut through their grief with a timeless truth: that life’s true measure lies not in bank balances but in the indelible mark one leaves through principle, purpose, and selfless contribution to others.
Uganda’s education fraternity mourns the passing of revered educationist John Willy Alinaitwe, 69, who succumbed to a prolonged illness on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at Kampala’s Case Hospital after a courageous health battle that saw him become a symbol of resilience in Uganda’s teaching community.
During the funeral service, Dr. Sylvia Tumuheirwe Alinaitwe, the Rukiga District Woman Legislator and NRM flag bearer, spoke on behalf of family friends, expressing gratitude for the trust the late Alinaitwe had placed in his wife, Ninsiima Joselyn Alinaitwe.
Joselyn, the Women’s League Chairperson for Rukiga and founder of the Akabox money-saving initiative, has been instrumental in uplifting vulnerable families across Rukiga District, a mission now championed by Hon. Sylvia.
Joselyn Alinaitwe remembered her late husband as a principled man who championed truth and justice, recalling his unwavering support for his children and underprivileged students in securing quality education.
She highlighted his passion for education, evident in his extensive contributions to the construction of buildings in various Core Primary Teachers’ Colleges (PTCs) during his tenure.
The children of the late Alinaitwe paid tribute to their father, remembering him as a pillar of strength who fostered unity and peace within the family.
They spoke of his disciplined nature, noting that he approached every aspect of life with seriousness and dedication, never taking anything for granted.
John Willy Alinaitwe’s career began in the classroom before rising to institutional leadership, first as Deputy Principal at Bushenyi Community College and later as Principal of Bukungu Primary Teachers’ College.
His exemplary leadership led to postings at several key PTCs across Uganda, including Arua, Bishop Stuart, and Bukinda, before culminating at Shimon Core PTC in Kampala, where he served until his retirement in 2016.
The veteran educationist was laid to rest at his ancestral home in Kakituro Cell, Kandago Parish, Bukinda Sub County, Rukiga District.
