The suspects, disguised in yellow T-shirts, targeted unsuspecting pedestrians, motorists, and businesspeople heading to Kyadondo to witness the nomination of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on June 28, 2025, around 2:00 pm.

According to Police Spokesperson Patrick Onyango, the gang’s modus operandi involved waylaying victims, robbing them of their valuables, and in some cases, assaulting them.

Acting on intelligence and utilizing CCTV footage, the police tracked and intercepted the suspects in various areas of Kampala.

Onyango confirmed that the arrested individuals are currently being held at CPS Kampala and Wandegeya Police Station, undergoing interrogation.

Police are investigating simple robbery and assault cases, with victims recording statements and reviewing CCTV footage to identify additional suspects.

“We are working tirelessly to ensure that our streets are safe for everyone. We urge anyone with information about these suspects or who was a victim of their crimes to come forward and assist us in building a strong case against them,” Onyango said.

Meanwhile, one suspect sustained injuries while attempting to flee from the police during the arrest and is currently receiving medical attention at a nearby health facility.
