KISORO, UGANDA – A horrific Valentine’s Day road accident along the Kyanakye-Mukaka road has left one person dead and two others injured after the vehicle they were traveling in veered off the road and overturned.

The accident occurred on Saturday, February 14th, 2026, at around 2:00 PM at Kagoma village, Kanaba sub-county, Kisoro district involving a Fuso Fighter (Reg. No. UAW 876C).
Reliable sources indicate that the motor vehicle was traveling from Kagoma village loaded with onions and heading to Kyanakyere when the driver lost control, reportedly due to rain making the road slippery.
Tragedy struck when the vehicle overturned, killing Mr. Akansiima, who was seated in the co-driver’s position, and injuring the driver and another passenger.
The Kigezi Police spokesperson, ASP Elly Maate, confirmed the incident. He stated that the traffic team rushed to the scene and managed to take the surviving victims to Mutolere Hospital for treatment.
“It is alleged that the driver lost control of the vehicle due to the slippery road condition, and it subsequently overturned into a valley at Kagoma village,” Maate explained.
The police spokesperson confirmed that the deceased’s body was taken to Kisoro Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem as inquiries into the circumstances of the crash are underway.
