Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson SP Kawala Racheal confirmed the operation was triggered by a tip-off alleging the garage was a criminal workshop and clandestine hub for processing stolen motorcycles.
She stated that the motorcycles were systematically dismantled, reassembled, rebranded, and fitted with forged number plates before being returned to the streets.
SP Kawala Racheal added that acting swiftly on the intelligence, officers descended on the premises and conducted a thorough search, uncovering a well-organized criminal enterprise.
The staggering haul from the operation included 44 complete motorcycles, 8 stripped of engines and seats, 7 skeletal frames, 5 metallic parts, 6 engines, 10 exhaust pipes, 4 number plates, and various other assorted components.

She urged the public who may have lost motorcycles matching the listed registration numbers to contact the nearest police station or Kampala Metropolitan South Police for verification.
“We have 13 suspects in custody as investigations continue. We are tracing the owners of the recovered motorcycles and looking for the garage owner. Anyone who lost a motorcycle matching the listed numbers should contact the nearest police station or our office for help,” said SP Kawala.
