Kisoro, Uganda – Candidates vying for the Kisoro Municipality parliamentary seat have made firm commitments to uplift the living conditions of residents by rolling out and strengthening development projects designed to combat poverty.
The pledges were delivered during a joint campaign rally held at Gatovu and Kasemisego in the Southern Division, where each aspirant outlined their vision for community transformation.
Dr. Leo Mfitimana, one of the hopefuls, assured attendees that villages yet to benefit from piggery and poultry projects, particularly those focusing on women and youth, would soon be included in these empowerment programs.
He emphasized that these initiatives are vital for driving economic growth, creating opportunities, and ultimately fostering prosperity and improved living standards among residents.
Dr. Mfitimana also called upon fellow leaders to prioritize unity, effective communication, and cooperation to ensure proper representation of their communities once elected into office.

Meanwhile, Emmanuel Maniraguha unveiled plans to construct a new hotel in Nkuringo Town Council, a move aimed at generating employment opportunities for the youth.
Maniraguha, who currently operates Tourland Hotel in Kisoro Municipality, emphasized that the project would not only boost local tourism but also provide much-needed jobs.
In addition to the hotel venture, he pledged to extend electricity and gravity-flow water systems to the residents of Gatovu, addressing long-standing infrastructural challenges in the area.

Another contender, Sam Byibesho, promised to advocate for the full inclusion of women in the Women Entrepreneurship Program while ensuring that the youth receive substantial support through the Youth Livelihood Program.
Byibesho also expressed his commitment to pushing for the elevation of Kisoro Municipality’s status, a step he believes will attract more government attention and resources to the area.
