The faithful charge was delivered by the Emeritus Bishop of the Diocese of Kigezi, George Bagamuhunda, while presiding over the burial service of Daniel Ndarubwine and his son Joseph Ndarubwine in Rukiga district.

The joint burial service of the father and brother of Maj. Gen. Henry Masiko, the MP representing the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), was held over the weekend at Kihanga Playground in Mparo Town Council, Rukiga District.

The late Daniel Ndarubwine died of complications related to old age, while his son Joseph Twinomujuni died of throat cancer after a prolonged battle with the disease.

Mzee Daniel Ndarubwine, who was born on April 30, 1930, passed away just days before his 96th birthday. His son, Joseph Twinomujuni Ndarubwine, was born on February 19, 1965. Both passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2026, in Kampala.

Presiding over the service, Bishop Bagamuhunda urged people to be kind to their neighbors and to do good to everyone, reminding them that life on earth is full of both good and bad things.

Maj. Gen. Matsiko described his father as a pillar of strength and wisdom within the family and the wider community, noting that his guidance and leadership shaped generations.

He explained that his father’s advice and leadership helped raise and guide many people over the years, making a lasting difference in their lives.

He emotionally recalled his late brother Joseph’s brave cancer fight across Uganda, Kenya, and India, praising his resilience, family support, and help from friends and government institutions.

Maj. Gen. Matsiko further appreciated the Government of Uganda, the UPDF leadership, and medical teams across many health facilities for the extended healthcare of his late father and brother during their final days.

The burial service drew a wide range of mourners, including political leaders, senior UPDF officers led by Lt. Gen. Sam Okidingi (the Deputy CDF), and community members, all united in grief and solidarity with the bereaved family.
