The Mayor was on Friday, February 2, 2026, giving a status update on the roads being expanded and redeveloped by DOTT Services with funding from the Kampala Capital City Authority.
Omari appreciated the ongoing reconstruction of St. Barnabas (0.79 km), Kalungi Road (0.6 km), Kisugu to Muwuliriza Road (1.6 km), and Bukasa Road to Bukasa Link (1.1 km), noting that the completion of the roads would help to quicken movement and commerce in Makindye.
The DOTT Services Project Supervisor, Eng. Christian Kanyesigye, revealed that the roads will have covered drains and walkways on either side so as to promote walking as a healthy lifestyle in the city.
Kanyesigye said that street lights will also be fitted on the 6–7 m wide roads to broaden the spectrum of activities that can be undertaken in the Division at night.
Fiona Nabatanzi, a restaurant business operator along St. Barnabas/IHK Road, welcomed the development, noting that it would boost property rates and social services in the Division.
