NTUNGAMO – The Bishop of the South Ankole Diocese, Rt. Rev. Nathan Ahimbisibwe, has encouraged Christians to uphold unity and deep spiritual devotion while firmly rejecting all forms of division within the Church.

The Bishop made these remarks during a joyous and historic service at the consecration of St. Philip’s Mutanoga Church of Uganda (Kizaara), along with a confirmation ceremony for 18 faithful believers.

The event drew a large gathering of worshippers, clergy, and local leaders, all celebrating a new chapter in the life of the parish.

Addressing the congregation, Bishop Ahimbisibwe warned that divisionism brings bickering and strife among God’s people, ultimately driving Christians away from the house of the Lord.

“Instead of tearing one another apart, we must embrace unity so that peace may reign in our churches, families, and communities,” he said.

Flanked by his wife, Mama Lillian Ahimbisibwe, the Bishop commended the Christians of St. Philip’s, together with the head of laity, Asimire Hope, and lay reader Kantunda Denis Ekyoojo, for their remarkable dedication to holistic income-generating projects.

He praised their practical efforts to strengthen both spiritual and economic life, urging others to cooperate and work diligently to eradicate poverty at the household level.

“Hard work and collaboration are marks of true discipleship. When we build our homes and churches together, we reflect the Kingdom of God on earth,” Bishop Nathan added.

Preaching during the service, the Diocesan Secretary, Rev. Canon Alfred Turyamureeba, called upon all believers to remain firmly anchored in Christ as the only source of true unity, stability, and peace.

Drawing from Ephesians 2:14-17, Canon Alfred reminded the faithful that Christ Himself is our peace, who has broken down every wall of hostility and reconciled us to God and to one another.

The Bishop was assisted in the consecration rites by the Dean of St. Matthew’s Cathedral Kyamate, the Very Rev. Canon Joram Akoragye, alongside the Diocesan Secretary, Rev. Canon Alfred Turyamureeba.

The head of laity of St. Philip’s Mutanoga Church of Uganda (Kizaara), Asimire Hope, and the lay reader hailed the Bishop and his entourage for consecrating their church and confirming 18 Christians.
