KANUNGU – The husband of four was allegedly strangled to death at his new residence following misunderstandings with his estranged wives and acquiring a new piece of land where he lived alone.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!The deceased has been identified as Godfrey Tumwesigye, 78, a resident of Nyarwemarira village, Rubimbwa parish, Kirima Sub-county, Kanungu district, who was allegedly strangled to death by yet unknown people.
Sources indicate that the deceased was married to a set of four wives, each of whom resides in their own separate home.
Reports suggest that the octogenarian decided to live a solitary life, acquired a new piece of land, built a house, and began residing alone following longstanding domestic misunderstandings.
Despite his advanced age, his daughter, Florence Kyomuhendo, also constructed a house on the same property and lived there with her children to look after her father.
Meanwhile, on May 26, 2026, the deceased was in good health and was served food by his grandchild as he planned to go to bed.
Unfortunately, the following day, May 27, 2026, at around 7:00 a.m., the grandchild went to the deceased’s home to help him take the goats for grazing. He found him dead, lying outside his house.
The child ran back and informed his mother, who responded to the scene and notified the matter to officers at Kirima police station. They responded with a police sniffer dog at the scene.
The Kigezi regional police spokesperson, ASP Maate Elly, confirmed that the critical forensic investigation was hampered as the scene of crime had already been tampered with by initial responders and onlookers before the police arrived.
Despite this setback, the deceased’s body was retrieved and conveyed to Kanungu Health Centre IV for a postmortem examination.
Maate added that inquiries into the matter are at hand, and efforts are being made to have those involved in the strangulation arrested.
