The development follows a thrilling day of round of 16 matches and subsequent quarterfinal knockout action on Saturday, April 11, 2026, in Rukungiri District.

Round of 16 Results – Saturday, April 11

The round of 16 saw mostly tight, low-scoring affairs.

Makobore edged Kisoro by 1–0, while Bishop Comboni secured a 1–0 victory over St. Paul’s Bukinda.

Rukungiri High School beat Nyabitete SS 2–1, and Bishop Ruhindi defeated St. Andrews Rubanda by a single goal.

Rwabukooba SS also won 1–0 against Nyamweru SS. The only match to go to penalties was between Kashenyi and Kamwezi, which finished 0–0 before Kamwezi won the shootout 3–1.

Finally, St. Gerald’s advanced with a 2–0 win over Rock HS.

Quarterfinal Results – Later on Saturday, April 11

The quarterfinals were even more dramatic, with three of the four matches decided by penalty shootouts after goalless draws.

In the first quarterfinal, Bishop Comboni defeated Kamwezi HS 1–0 to book their semifinal spot.

The second quarterfinal between Rukungiri HS and St. Gerald’s ended 0–0 after regulation time. Rukungiri HS held their nerve to win the penalty shootout 4–3.

The third quarterfinal also finished goalless, with Bishop Ruhindi facing Kabale SS (KABSCO). Bishop Ruhindi emerged victorious 4–3 on penalties.

The final quarterfinal saw Makobore and Rwabukooba play out another 0–0 draw. Makobore dominated the shootout, winning 4–1 to complete the semifinal lineup.

Semifinals and Final – Sunday, April 12 at Rukungiri Main Stadium

All matches on Sunday will be played at Rukungiri Main Stadium.

The first semifinal kicks off at 8:00 AM, featuring Makobore High School versus Bishop Comboni.

The second semifinal follows at 10:00 AM, with Bishop Ruhindi taking on Rukungiri High School.

The final is scheduled for 1:00 PM, where the winners of the two semifinals will battle for the regional championship.
