The four new suspects—Nahamya Ovid, also known as Akilamu; Tayebwa Cosma; Amanya Jordan, alias Piza; and Natuhamya Naboth, aka Kayana—were arrested on Tuesday, March 25, 2026.

They are allegedly linked to the tragic murder that occurred on July 28, 2025, in Rutooma Cell, Sheema District, an incident that sent shockwaves through the community.

According to the Greater Bushenyi Regional Police Spokesperson, SP Tayebwa Apollo, during interrogation, the four voluntarily confessed to their involvement in the aggravated robbery and murder.

SP Apollo stated that, in light of the new evidence, the case file has been resubmitted to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for a fresh review to provide legal guidance on the next steps.

The confession marks a pivotal turning point in the case, offering crucial details that had previously been elusive since the earlier arrest of three other individuals, who have been on remand since the initial stages of the investigation.

The police spokesperson noted that the three individuals, initially held based on strong canine-linked circumstantial evidence while the broader investigation continued, will now have their cases considered alongside the new confessions.

“Investigations into this matter are still ongoing, and the police remain committed to ensuring that all those involved are brought to justice. The public will be duly informed of any further developments, as the police remain committed to seeing the case through to its conclusion,” SP Tayebwa stated.

The police further appealed to the public for continued cooperation, urging vigilance and the prompt reporting of any suspicious persons or activities to the police and other security agencies.

The community now awaits the next steps from the DPP, hopeful that the growing web of evidence and confessions will soon deliver full justice for Edson Betware.
