KABALE – Police in the Kigezi sub-region have cautioned bus and long-vehicle drivers to always be mindful of the lives of passengers on board, lives that can be shattered in a split second of negligence.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! The stern caution was delivered by the Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson, SP Nelson Tumushime, on June 6, 2026, following a single-vehicle minor crash on the outskirts of Kabale town.

The accident, which involved a bus (Reg No. UBE 977S) belonging to Gateway Bus Company, occurred at approximately 2:00 am in the early hours of Saturday on Kabaraga Hill, along the Kabale–Mbarara Highway.
Reliable sources indicate that the driver of the bus lost control while driving along the busy highway, resulting in the accident, which left the unharmed passengers shaken.
SP Nelson Tumushime confirmed to this reporter that traffic police officers rushed to the scene immediately after the alert and successfully secured the area, preventing any secondary incidents or traffic buildup.
He further issued a stern advisory to public service drivers across the region, urging them to always be mindful of the lives of passengers on board.
“Let this serve as a stern advisory to every public service driver across this region: always be mindful of the precious lives of the passengers on board,” SP Tumushime cautioned.
The bus has since been towed from the scene to Kabale Central Police Station for a more rigorous, detailed mechanical and safety inspection.
