RUKIGA – The Rukiga District Speaker, Rt. Hon. Akampurira Oscar, has encouraged Arsenal fans not only to celebrate together but to channel their collective passion into tangible economic transformation.

The Speaker made the remarks on Sunday, May 24, 2026, while joining jubilant supporters at the Arsenal fans’ Premier League victory celebrations, held at the APO Hotel in Muhanga, Rukiga District.

Dressed in the spirit of the day, Akampurira, himself an ardent Arsenal fan and sportsman, praised the unity and love that fans have displayed throughout the season in support of the English giants.

“The unity and love we have shown for this team should not be for one day. Let us transfer that same energy into uniting our members around supportive economic initiatives that uplift one another,” Speaker Oscar said.

He emphasized that football fandom, when properly harnessed, can serve as a powerful vehicle for community development, urging supporters to form self-help groups and investment clubs under the banner of their shared allegiance.

The chief guest at the event, businessman and dedicated Arsenal fan Kakuru Moses, emphasized that sportsmanship is not about hatred but instead serves as a uniting gear for togetherness.

“Sportsmanship is not a seed of hatred but a powerful gear that unites hearts, binds communities, and drives us toward a common purpose,” said Kakuru.

He further called for an economic empowerment group where Arsenal supporters pool resources for local enterprises, savings, and development projects to build their pockets.

The celebrations marked a historic moment for Arsenal Football Club, which clinched the 2025/26 English Premier League title with 85 points, finishing 7 points clear of second-place Manchester City, who ended on 78 points.

The decisive victory came after a hard-fought 2–1 win against Crystal Palace, sealing Arsenal’s first league championship in 22 years.
