RUBANDA – Residents of Rubanda District have held celebrations in honor of the NRM and President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni who took oath today, to officially begin his seventh term of office.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!While the Rubanda District NRM delegates traveled to Kampala to join their counterparts at the national event held at Kololo Independence grounds, the remaining supporters, led by staff from the District NRM Office, chose to celebrate from home.
Activities included a convoy that started from Bubare Town Council in Rubanda East and proceeded to Rubanda Town Council in Rubanda West. During the drive, NRM songs blared from loudspeakers as boda boda cyclists led the procession, dancing through the district along the Kabale – Kisoro road.

Mr. Enock Turyahebwa from Hamumba, Nyarurambi, Rubanda Town Council, Ms. Kyarikunda Edigarida and Ms. Lydia Tukamushaba from Ikumba Subcounty, expressed their joy about Museveni’s 2026 Presidential election victory and today’s swearing-in. They specifically highlighted his achievements including the introduction of the Parish Development Model, a government wealth creation program that has reportedly benefited many locals in Rubanda District.

Ms. Robina Tindiwensi from Bubare Subcounty, Ms. Seforonia Kyomukama, and Ms. Consalanta Beeya from Kibuzigye praised President Museveni for his policies aimed at women’s empowerment and the protection of widows’ rights, especially after they were victimized during rampant land grabbing cases in previous years.

Locals also cited the new Rubanda District General Hospital as another significant reason to celebrate Museveni’s election victory. They anticipate more development following his swearing-in for another term in office as President of Uganda.
Other residents thanked Museveni for trusting and collaborating with their elected leaders, notably State Minister of Finance Hon. Henry Musasizi, who has been at the center of lobbying for various government projects in the district, particularly between 2021 and 2026.
In the January 15 general election, Rubanda District voted overwhelmingly in favor of NRM Presidential flag bearer Yoweri Museveni, with up to 89% of the total votes. According to official figures from the Electoral Commission, the national percentage for Museveni was 71.6%.
All Rubanda District’s elected top leaders in the 2026 general election, were members of the NRM Party, including all MPs, the LC.5 Chairperson, and the LC.3 Chairpersons of the district’s 17 sub counties and town councils.
THE SWEARING CEREMONY
Today’s swearing-in ceremony at Kololo was marked by military rituals, constitutional procedures, and cultural symbolism.
Religious leaders led the nation in prayer, with Church of Uganda Archbishop Samuel Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu praying for wisdom, justice, and good health for Museveni and First Lady Janet Museveni.
Vice President Jessica Alupo handled moderation of the formal proceedings and invited Electoral Commission Chairperson Justice Simon Byabakama to declare the President-elect.
Museveni then took the oath of allegiance and the presidential oath before Chief Justice Dr. Flavian Zeija. He was accompanied to the podium by his daughter, Natasha Karugire, as a military salute was rendered.
Cheers erupted across the venue as Museveni took his oaths, officially beginning his new term in office.
