Ntungamo – The lifeless body of a Rwandan national was found hanging under a bridge along the busy Ntungamo-Kabale road in Ntungamo District, in mysterious circumstances.

The grim discovery was made on Thursday, April 23rd, 2026, at Rubanga Bridge, a metal structure located in Rukiri I, Akatojo Ward, Rubaare Town Council.
According to Sergeant Elinah Asiimwe of the Rubaare homicide unit, police were notified upon discovery of the deceased’s hanging body, quickly responded, and properly documented the scene.
The officer added that they discovered the deceased’s papers in his pockets, including a Rwandan national ID card and several Sacco documents matching the name on the ID.
Following proper body examination, investigators noted visible bruises consistent with strangulation, as well as two cut ropes indicating a violent struggle.
The discovery prompted the deployment of a sniffer dog unit, but because passersby had already disturbed the area, the dog lost the suspects’ scent.
The body was retrieved and transported to the mortuary at Itojo Hospital for postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
