CPA Kigezi Network Celebrates 2nd Anniversary with Tree Planting at UNITE Kabale.

KABALE, UGANDA – Members of the Certified Public Accountants (CPA) Kigezi Network commemorated their second anniversary with a series of activities, including a tree planting project initiated at the Uganda National Institute (UNITE) Campus, formerly NTC, Kabale.

The Rukungiri District Internal Auditor, Ms. Aine Sarah Kamara, who also serves as the Chairperson of the CPA Kigezi Network, led the team in planting up to 200 trees.

This initiative was part of the network’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program and aimed at environmental conservation.

CPAs from the six districts of the Kigezi Sub-region, Kabale, Rukiga, Rubanda, Kisoro, Rukungiri, and Kanungu, primarily planted *Grevillea robusta (Silky Oak), a versatile tree used for shade, timber, and windbreaks.

“We selected UNITE Kabale Campus for our Tree Planting Program because they have enough land, and the plan was also to promote our profession among the students at the institution,” Ms. Aine stated. She added that the next project would be carried out at a different institution, not necessarily a scho

The Dean of UNITE Kabale Campus, Ms. Annet Komunda, participated in the tree planting ceremony and expressed gratitude for the selection of the institution as the first beneficiary under the CPA’s CSR program.L

The tree planting event was held prior to the Annual General Meeting (AGM), which took place at Heras Country Resort in Kabale Municipality.

During the AGM, the Chief Guest, Ms. Maclean Batware, LC.3 Chairperson of the Southern Division in Kabale Municipality, commended the members for coming together under one umbrella.

The previous executive committee was unanimously re-elected for another two-year term, reflecting strong confidence from the members in their leadership.

The re-elected team includes Ms. Aine Sarah Kamara as  Chairperson, with Mr. Jessy Nkurikiyimana as Deputy, Benon Rutangana as Treasurer, Mr. Junior Twebaze as Secretary, Everest Tumwekwase for Publicity, and Justine Tushemereirwe as an advisor.

The event also celebrated CPA members of the Kigezi Network who recently won parliamentary elections held in January 2026, including Hon. CPA Henry Musasizi (Rubanda East), Hon. CPA Dr. Protazio Begumisa (Ndorwa East), and Hon. CPA Dr. Sylvia Arinaitwe (Rukiga District Woman MP).

In her remarks, Ms. Aine Sarah Kamara congratulated them, emphasizing the importance of having their members close to the network as they fulfill their mandates and contribute to national development.
