For nearly a decade, Mzee Kashoki a resident Butare cell southern ward in Kanungu Town Council lived in complete darkness, a condition his family had come to accept as an unchangeable fate.

This sad reality was transformed by the aspiring MP, Counsel Esther Majambere, after she learned of his plight during a community outreach in the area.

Moved by the elderly man’s long-standing struggle and his family’s dwindling hope, Hon. Majambere personally committed to facilitating his access to critical medical care.

She coordinated specialist consultations, covered essential expenses, and ensured he received the necessary surgery. The operation was a resounding success.

The moment light returned to Mzee Kashoki’s world marked the end of a long chapter of darkness and the beginning of a new life for his entire household.

Overcome with emotion, Mzee Kashoki offered a special prayer for his helper. “She has given me light again,” he declared, thanking Hon. Majambere for what he called a second chance at life.

His eldest daughter echoed the family’s profound gratitude, stating, “We had accepted it as our fate. What Counsel Esther has done is more than a medical procedure. She has restored our father’s dignity and reignited hope in our family. We can never repay her kindness.”

In her remarks, Hon. Counsel Esther Majambere noted that the intervention went beyond physical healing, serving to restore hope and renew dignity for Mzee Kashoki and his loved ones.

She announced her intent to push for the establishment of a special medical facility in the district for the treatment of bone diseases and eye conditions, which were cited as critical needs during earlier health camps.

The Kashoki homestead, once resigned to quiet despair, now buzzes with disbelief and celebration a testament to a compassionate act that has brought visible light and renewed hope to a corner of Butare Cell.

Hon. Counsel Esther Majambere is an aspiring Woman Member of Parliament for Kanungu District, known for her dedicated community advocacy and humanitarian interventions.
