KANUNGU, UGANDA – The aspiring Woman Member of Parliament for Kanungu, Counsel Esther Majambere, has committed to spearheading the urgent upgrade of Kyeshero Health Centre II to a Health Centre III, with a long-term vision of elevating it to a Health Centre IV.

The pledge, central to her campaign, was delivered during her inaugural rally in Kyeshero, where she addressed a crowd of enthusiastic supporters.

Counsel Majambere stated that her plan for the health sector is a critical component of her broader manifesto aimed at radically improving access to quality healthcare and social services across the district.

The promise follows her recent visit to the facility, where she witnessed firsthand the challenges faced by both medical staff and the community.

She highlighted that the current Health Centre II is severely overstretched and lacks the necessary equipment and capacity to serve the growing population effectively.

“Our mothers walk long distances to deliver safely, and patients often have to be referred far away for treatment that could be handled locally if we had a better-equipped facility. This is not just an upgrade of a building; it is an upgrade of our community’s right to quality healthcare,” Majambere stated.

The facility upgrade would significantly expand the range of services available at Kyeshero, including in-patient care, maternity services, and laboratory diagnostics, reducing the need for arduous and costly referrals for basic treatments.

Beyond healthcare, the aspiring legislator outlined a comprehensive community development plan with robust interventions in education, agriculture, and women’s empowerment.

In the education sector, Majambere pledged to advocate for free, quality education in government schools and push for increased recruitment and support for teachers.

She also emphasized the importance of vocational training, promising to introduce skills development programs for the youth and women to boost self-employment and drive sustainable community development.

The rally marked the formal launch of her grassroots campaign, with residents expressing hope that her focus on essential services like health and education will bring the development Kanungu needs.
