The decisions were made during a special meeting chaired by Speaker Constance Tusiime on Friday, October 31, 2025, at the Rukungiri Municipal Council Hall, in a display of collaborative governance.

The Municipal Deputy Mayor, Turyahabwe Bernard, opened the session by commending the Mayor and Town Clerk for their unwavering efforts.

He presented a report detailing significant achievements, including the acquisition of Council land, ongoing road construction, and the disbursement of funds to several schools where projects have already launched.

Bernard announced upcoming benefits for the Municipality including a UPDF partnership to build classrooms and supply schools, the imminent delivery of a new vehicle for the Mayor’s office, and an ambulance for Rukungiri Health Centre IV to enhance operational efficiency and emergency medical response.

During the subsequent discussion, Councilors lauded the Education Department, led by Agume Robert, and the Community Based Services Department, under Twesigomwe Johnbosco, for their effective implementation of projects.

The Deputy Town Clerk, Mr. Ampeire Justus, commended the Councilors for their cooperative spirit, noting that their constructive amendments have strengthened technical operations and good governance.

The Officer in Charge of Rukungiri Police Station, ASP Kisakye Michael, assured the Council of a peaceful and secure Municipality, attributing this to successful interagency cooperation.

He also announced a special police recruitment drive for the upcoming elections and encouraged Councilors to publicize the requirements, which include being 18 or older and possessing a Primary Seven certificate, National ID, and a recommendation from an LC1 chairperson.

ASP Kisakye appreciated residents for their orderly conduct during recent parliamentary nominations and pledged the Police’s impartial security provision for all political groups throughout the election period.

The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment from both technical and political leaders to continue their synergistic efforts for the continued prosperity of Rukungiri Municipality.
