In the first incident, which took place at about 12:50 AM along the Mutolere Hospital road, the deceased has been identified as Rukundo Justus, 30, a resident of Kagorogoro village, Muhindura parish, Kanaba Sub-county.

Reports indicate that the crash involved a head-on collision between two motorcycles: a Bajaj Boxer (UMA 623HL) and a Yamaha YBR (UDY 197D).

It is alleged that the Yamaha, ridden by the victim, was traveling from Kisoro town towards Mutolere Hospital when it collided with the Bajaj Boxer ridden by the other deceased.

Another victim, Hakizimana Martin, sustained injuries in the same collision and was rushed to Mutolere Hospital for medical attention.

Meanwhile, the police are seeking public assistance regarding a hit-and-run fatal accident that occurred on the same day, April 30, 2026, at Shozi village along the Kabale-Kisoro highway.

An unidentified male adult pedestrian was struck and killed by a yet-to-be-identified motor vehicle at an unknown time, and the driver fled the scene immediately after the incident.

The Kigezi Police spokesperson, ASP Elly Maate, confirmed the incidents, stating that both scenes were visited and both bodies were transported to the Kisoro Hospital Mortuary.

Maate added that both motorcycles involved in the first incident, which led to the death of Rukundo Justus, were both towed and parked at Kisoro Central Police Station (CPS) awaiting inspection by the Inspector of Vehicles (IOV).

Police further appealed to the public, urging anyone missing a loved one in the surrounding areas to visit the mortuary and help identify the two bodies for a decent burial.
